Surprise Surprise!! Melo deal still possible…but may end Eboue’s stay.

For all the fans who had given up on Melo, well there’s still hope. Yes, Fiorentina have issued a statement on their website declaring that Arsenal are the only club in the running for the Brazilian. Earlier in the day there were rumours suggesting Juventus had snapped up the midfielder but Fiorentina reactedquickly to deny the rumours. There’s a new twist to this saga though. It seems like the transfer might end Emanuel Eboue’s stay at Arsenal. A statement on the Serie A based club’s website said

” The Director of Fiorentina, Pantaleo Corvino deny the voices of these last hours of the market, which sees certain clubs with interest in Felipe Melo, stating that:

1. – If the player had already reached an agreement on its behalf with any Club, the clause  determined by the same player at 25 million, does not provide any technical counterparts, unless the approval of Fiorentina.

2nd -The Director also states that Arsenal FC are the only club that has brought stability to the figure of the player’s clause.

3rd – La Fiorentina, in turn, has proposed that the companies reduce the amount of clause while entering into negotiations for Eboue the right rightback. ”.

Its no surprise that Wenger is looking for a hardman in midfield to partner Fabregas but it could bring about the end for the versatile Eboue. He’s been a back up for Bacary Sagna for 2 seasons now and has often been used in the midfield .  As far as Melo is concerned i think he could be the next Gilberto for us , but i for one think we will miss Eboue.  Hate him or love him , he’s the kind of utility player every team needs. He did show us glimpses of his talent and skill last season with a few goals and assists. To be fair to him , Eboue didn’t really get the starts to impress . Lets see how things turn out in a few days . We would really benefit from Melo but at the cost of a player who did give his all when called upon.

Cheers 🙂
